Looking for a new style of fitness in Melbourne? Our adults Judo, kids Judo, Boxing and Muay Thai classes will help revive your gym routine. Traditional gym classes rely on equipment training that can become boring and repetitive. In our classes you will constantly learn new skills, be motivated by the people around you and extend your limits. Judo, Boxing and Muay Thai classes are much more than just self defence. Our classes are fun, dynamic and will get you seriously fit. But why are our classes so effective for improving your health and fitness? Well it boils down to the unique way that Judo, Boxing and Muay Thai combine aerobic and anaerobic exercise.
Aerobic Exercise
Aerobic exercise, better known as cardio, is any type of cardiovascular activity where your breathing and heart rate increase for a sustained period of time. Common examples are running, swimming or cycling. Oxygen is your main energy source during aerobic workouts, which maximises the amount of oxygen in your blood and increases blood flow to your muscles. Aerobic exercise is beneficial for keeping weight off, reducing blood pressure, increasing stamina and boosting your mood. Aerobic exercise benefits almost everyone although you should start slow if you are just starting out. In the gym, aerobic exercise is achieved by running on the treadmill or using the elliptical machine. However, to really get fit you will also need to do anaerobic exercise to build muscle and burn fat.
Anaerobic Exercise
In contrast, anaerobic exercise occurs in a quick burst of energy performed at maximum intensity, such as running up a flight of stairs, jumping jacks or weight lifting. During anaerobic exercise, your body relies on stored energy, rather than oxygen. This includes breaking down glucose and fat, which is why anaerobic exercise is so essential for weight loss and muscle tone. However, anaerobic exercise can be taxing on the body and should only be undertaken with a certified fitness instructor.
MMA classes do both
In our Boxing, Judo and Muay Thai classes we combine both aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise into one fitness programme overseen by skilled professionals. We incorporate both sustained cardio and fast anaerobic movements into self defence training that hone practically every muscle in your body. Kicks strengthen your legs. Punches strengthen your arms. Rolls strengthen your core. Sprawling builds up your back muscles. Unlike gym workouts that focus on only one area at a time, martial arts workouts challenge your whole body on every level. Training at Senshi Academy will help build up your muscle strength, burn fat, increase your stamina and agility all at once and, to top it off, improve your mental focus and confidence. You’ll love our classes as much as we do.
